Zygomycosis of upper respiratory tract, caused by Coniobolus coronatus, is known to produce clinical syndrome. The fungus is known to cause disease in animals and insects. Can this be the source of infection?

C. coronatus and C. incongruus are the only species that are known to cause human disease Zygomycosis of upper respiratory tract. Powdery, white surface mycelium and conidiophores are source of infection.
I am currently working on that specific question and I developed a clinical classification of entomophthoromycoses which I will present at ICEM-Congress in Cape Town. In addition, I have to correct the answer as given by Ravi Kant Upadhyay .
In contrast to his description, B. ranarum was also isolated as etiological agent of infections of the upper respiratory tract.
Including the lower respiratory tract, the spectrum of species which cause respiratory tract infections must be extended to C. lamparauges, a species usually known to cause infection of the upper respiratory tract in sheep.
Very good information on the subject which broaden our knowledge . In general fungus diseases are neglected not to speak of zygomycosis. Infection of the face is wrongly diagnosed as rhinophyma or some other. In the back drop of this mycotic diseases are misdiagnosed , undiagnosed and receive wrong treatment. Therefore the true incidence of these infections in nature is an enigma.
