Fungal infections of human and animal are neglected in India. India is a Gold Mine of fungal infections. Explore. Conclusions depend on your selection of methods and materials you select. So select properly.
The medically important fungus range from superficail mycosese-tinea versicolor, malasezzia furfur -deramtophytes-mycetoma fungus-to deep mycosis -sporothrix,histoplasma,coccidiodes,paracoccidiodes,blastomyces to opportunistic fungus -like candida, aspergillus, penicillium, cryptococcus, mucor, absidia, rhizopus etc
Dear Thammayya, With the use of molecular techniques, it is now recognized
that the organisms originally included in this kingdom of Fungi contained at least three phylogenetically distinct groups, and some phyla have now been reclassified in the kingdoms Protozoa and Chromista. Almost all the fungi previously regarded as human pathogens, however, remain in the reclassified Fungi. They have probably evolved from protozoan ancestors, and the kingdom Fungi is now believed to have originated before the separation of Animalia and Plantae. All fungi are heterotrophic and must exist as saprophytes or parasites. However, relatively few of the estimated quarter of a million species are pathogens of humans or other warm-blooded animals.
The vast majority exist purely as saprophytes or plant parasites and, even among the few that do cause human disease, many have a well-established saprophytic or
plant parasitic life cycle in which human infection has no role.
