Hi, I want to know is there is another chemical that I can use to produce activated carbon from lignocellulosic materials. I found that the most used are H3PO4, KOH, ZnCl, and I want to know is there are others, perhaps something more natural.

You can also use gaseous activating agents (air, O2, CO2, or NH3). Usually you will pick an activating agent depending on what you are looking for in your carbon. Some are known for adding heteroatoms or being more vigorous activating agents for structures that aren't inherently porous.
For the activation purpose you can use superheated steam which is quite effective in modification of carbon surface and also environmentally friendly. As by chemical methods higher surface properties can be obtained but waste waster generation takes place during neutralization step that significantly increases the overall cost. So its better to go with activating agents like superheated steam which also can able to increase surface area upto 800 m2/g. For any other help on the process you can refer my paper.
The choice of a chemical activating agent is, most often, predicated on the desired nature and area of application of the adsorbent. Environmental considerations and cost, for instance, usually inform the choice of H3PO4 given that it results to a benign product that does not require washing (or much of it) as would other agents. In same light, you could also use carbonic acid.
