Dear Şeyda Bostancı, no single form of government is universally "best" because different societies have unique needs and people have different perspectives - like my western european view. However, liberal democracy and social democracy are often considered the most effective due to their ability to:
Uphold human rights and freedoms: Democratic systems tend to provide greater human rights protections due to institutional mechanisms that ensure accountability and transparency (Murray, 2004)
Promote economic prosperity: A well-functioning government promotes economic prosperity by implementing effective policies (Alam, Kitenge, & Bedane, 2017).
Ensure government accountability & Maintain social stability: Government effectiveness and corruption control are essential factors in ensuring political stability (Kartiko, 2024). Additionally, hybrid democracies (e.g., constitutional monarchies with democratic institutions) are often successful in maintaining social stability (Widayati & Winanto, 2020).
Hybrid models, such as constitutional monarchies with democratic institutions or federalist social or liberal democracies, often provide the best outcomes by blending the strengths of multiple governance systems.
Key Factors of Good Governance
Regardless of the system, a good government should:
Be accountable and transparent.
Uphold the rule of law.
Promote economic and social well-being.
Encourage civic participation.
Adapt to changing societal needs.
In practice, the most effective governments are those that prioritize good governance principles over ideological purity, ensuring responsive, inclusive, and stable political institutions.
