I am trying to detect citrate in LC-MS. I ran the samples in both negative and positive modes. I performed direct injection (without a column) using an ESI ionization source. Thank you very much
So what did you get after performing all of that? I mean, you performed correct steps, so you should already have a method for citrate detection. Can you please specify your question?
There are several methods for citric acid. Probably, the simplest one will be RP chromatography with HSS T3 or similar column. The retention in not the best, but acceptable. For the optimized method, I would use HILIC based methods, but again - it can take some time and efforts to develop it.
I am, however, more concerned that you do not see it with direct injection... do you work with a pure standard? What kind of instrument do you use?
