A nice demonstration experiment was published by Postma et al. (1989). It shows how 'wild yeasts' can rapidly outcompete Saccharomyces cerevisiae in sugar-limited industrial cultures based on a superior affinity for glucose. Are you aware of any similar studies using bacteria?

The production of sacharomyces cerevisiae is easy to contaminate with Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) too. why? because the maximum specific growth rate is major fot Bt than yeast
