In order to study the effects of different drugs on cells maintained in culture, what are some of the methods to stimulate the cells with different drugs?
What do you mean by activating the cells? What are you trying to look at?
for RPE, make sure you use well differentiated long term cultures on a permeable substrate such as PET Transwells or similar. for better illustration of this point I'm attaching some food for thought...Boris

By activating the cells, I mean stimulating or challenging the cells with different drugs and see how the cells react, whether or not they express any proapoptotic proteins such as NOXA. I am studying the effects of aspirin and its metabolites on the human retinal pigment epithelial cells in the causation of acute macular degeneration.
