Covid has protein capsid. Denaturing it would easily expose the RNA which denatures easily. Now, I am thinking to use some denaturating agent of plant origin, particularly from edible plants for surface cleaning.
The virus also has a lipid coating, which is why plain soap and water can denature the virus. I don't know any edible plants, but I'd go for plants that naturally make soap (e.g. yucca glauca). I would suspect that any plant excretions that are strong enough to quickly and directly denature proteins would be too harsh to touch without gloves.
In India, we know about Soap nut (Sapindus spp.), Acacia concinna (Shikakai) and some herbs. These are having excellant properties but are not edible. Very rarely used for treatment in oral route in Ayurveda. If we have some edible plant, then we can use the extracts for surface santization of edible materials like fruits, raw vegetables and food parcels etc.
