There are some papers which prove that WB leads to OC whereas there are almost the same number of research done which states the reverse. Is there any seminal work done on the actual causal relationship between the two?
I think in relationship between variables the theoretical foundation or literature can clarify the cause and effect relationship. so in articles that you read this point is important.
Another important thing is to read top articles which are published by top publisher like Elsevier, Wiley and...
Try also looking chronological if the understanding of the relationship changed over time. I do believe you need to look into top notch journals to get a better understanding of the matter.
Search for meta-analysis works and look for the size of the impact. Good luck!
Well being is the IV but you surely would want a wider range of factors. Job environment, organizational support, job characteristics, LMX etc are good IVs that contribute to OC.
If you are just asking it from a layman's point of view, both can serve as the predictor for one another. There are possible logical explanation of each.
However, if you planing to initiate a research for these two variables, Saeid Nosrati had offered you an answer. We often fall back to the theoretical foudation and literature. If you
wish to challenge it, prove it through justification and back with scientific empirical research. Another point to highlight is, there are many journals published and available. You may wish to exercise your judgement on the quality of the publication.
There are some papers which prove that Well Being predicts Organizational Commitment whereas other researches concluded that Organizational Commitment predicts Well Being. You need to test whether their is an association or causation between the two variables.
