I am currently conducting experiments on the dynamic response of GRP tubes subjected to a variety of dynamic excitations. Strain gauges will be used at different locations along the tube length. Tubes may be exposed to water:
1. Do you know of any water- proofed strain gauges that I could use in this case?
2. Or, do you know of any other methods that would allow for such water- proofing?
3. Also, what type and model of strain gauge would be compatible with GRP tubes?
There are many companies that sell water proof strain gauge . You can use any of them. For example, (i) WF series Waterproof strain gauge made of TML, Japan. (ii) HPI waterproof rosette strain gauge (iii) KFW Series Waterproof Foil Strain Gages, etc.
Alternatively, you can use epoxy resin to coat the strain gauge you have to make it water proof.

Thank you very much for the info. I have had a quick check on the proposed strain gauges. It seems to me that the strain gauges are applicable for metal, glass, and ceramic structural members. Could you please give your thoughts on this? Thanks.
