Visible precipitation of apo alpha lactalbumin (milk protein) in 4.5 pH Buffer?

I am experiencing visible precipitation the moment I dispense apo alpha lactalbumin protein in 4.5 pH buffers ( sodium acetate and sodium citrate). I am using EGTA as a chelator to convert holo alpha lactalbumin into its apo form. Has this occurred with anyone else?
