I agree with Thomas and also you can carry out RT_PCR as you pointed out using specific primers targeting the particular taxon. If I come across any articles in the mean time I will share with you definitely.

Thanks for your responses. But what if it is a community metagenomic sequencing and not the targeted amplicon sequencing? Can we still include mock samples? Please provide an elaborate explanation. Will be grateful for your time. Thank you.
