The compound's function is already determined, it is inhibiting few gram positive organisms.Structurally it is closest to pyoluteorin. And it is not a protein, it is a secondary metabolite (aromatic in nature)

On a knowing methabolic organism and a new compound, there is a software call BNICE to see what is occur with new compounds and resulting new compounds created  each step of the pathway. You can contact Pr. Vassily Hatzimanikatis ([email protected]), because unfortunately the software is not accessible outside the laboratory. It is the occasion to make collaborations.
