Use of sodium acetate ??

Why is 3M sodium acetate used in dna precipitation method along with isopropanol, rather than using sodium chloride ??

Isopropanol and the acetate both help. They both help to mantain the DNA. The NaCl dries the DNA. Isopropanol is the one that keeps the DNA. Acetate contributes. If I can I will write again.
