Hello everyone,

I am beginner in molecular biology. I am confused with the term transfection and co-tranfection.

Can someone explain me what is the basic difference between them ? i search online, but i find different opinion. e.g somewhere it was explained that during transfection, if we need to tranfect some cell with our desired plasmid, so we need to adopt the standard protocol. Like adding PEI, helper plasmids and our desired plasmid into the cells. However, in co-transfection, we can add our desired plasmids directly into the cells. But somwehere, i find another idea which was totally opposite to this.

Thanks.
