Concerning the soil acidic situation of tea gardens with a pH of 3 to 4, I would like to know if it would be beneficial to use biofertilizers to improve this harsh situation to have a balance in nutrient cycles and ion exchange that leads to an equilibrium in tea cultivation ecosystem.
An excellent question . The best course to use biofertilizers source in such cases would be to take out the rhizosphere soil from highly productive tea patches and apply the rhizosphere soil in those patches having poor tea stand , in a way to use native microbes from productive rhizosphere soil. And , there is every likely that biofertilizers would surely benefit the tea plantation, even at soil pH of 3-4. Microbes are the biggest biosensors....let it be any soil or crop or any growing environment ..

Dear Anoop you know mostly tea gardens in Northern Iran are surrounded by citrus orchards like orange, tangerine and persimmon.
Since both crops flourish so well in Alfisols and Ultisols known for low fertlity acidic soils....
Biofertilizers keep the soil environment rich in all kinds of micro- and macro-nutrients via nitrogen fixation, phosphate and potassium solubalisation or mineralization, release of plant growth regulating substances, production of antibiotics and biodegradation of organic matter in the soil. When biofertilizers are applied as seed or soil inoculants, they multiply and participate in nutrient cycling and benefit crop productivity particularly in tea production. In general, 60% to 90% of the total applied fertilizer is lost and the remaining 10% to 40% is taken up by plants.

Dear Anoop thank you for your interest in knowing the fertilizer application. In this regard, I can tell you that mostly in the recent years tea farmers used macro fertilizers containing elements like Urea, triple sulfate, sulfate, potassium and magnesium applied in early March, April and July.
virus, bacteria, fungs, and other microbes are involved in soil health.... now there is a small information in bacteria and microbes activity, however, there is very small/or no information about fungi soil and viruses.
and it is very very complicated the relation in between the microorganisms.

Dear Elaheh, in india ,we notice negative rhizosphere effect very common in older tea bushes, do you notice such phenomenon in older tea gardens of Iran ..??
Dear Anoop, thank you for your good question. In Iran most of tea gardens were established maybe more than 70 years ago (old bushes). According to this, in my opinion in Iran we can also notice the negative rhizosphere effect on crop performance in tea gardens, especially the parts that are more suffering of lower pH (
