Dear Colleagues,

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2017 has been awarded to Rainer Weiss, Barry C. Barish and Kip S. Thorne  for decisive contributions to the LIGO detector and the observation of gravitational waves.

By the way, I have a question: Why is there no Nobel Prize in Mathematics even though Mathematics is considered the basis of all other sciences?

Thank you and hoping for your insightful response.
