Dear all,

Hi,

This question probably is similar to the question that some scholars have already asked; but they have generally been about the popular distros of researchers. It is noteworthy that I'm now KDE Plasma distro user. We know that bioinformatics has a variety of research areas, and each researcher needs an exclusive distro depending on their field of study to apply proprietary packages. Although Antonia Rana & Fabrizio Foscarini have already mentioned some distros and some points about Bio-Linux, Gentoo Linux, DNALinux, BioSLAX, PhyLIS etc in the link below.

Because any distribution is efficient for a number of reasons including: compatibility with most Bioinformatics packages, constantly updating for LTS stability, what repositories they update and how frequently, which distro is the most appropriate for phylogenetic, molecular ecology, R packages and so on. I'm looking forward to any valuable opinions and suggestions of your expertise personal experiences.

Best,

Saeed
