There is also evidence that the microbiome in the gut of arthropod vectors (for example: mosquitoes carrying dengue virus) affects the degree at which mosquitoes are infected by pathogens. Certain bacteria actually lower the level of infection of these pathogens in these arthropods resulting in lower transmission.
Jose, do you have a paper that shows or reviews the microbiome affecting pathogen infection?
Some pathogens are perhaps likely to reduce the effects of others. ie : If immune defense is activated by the first,would it protect against a second ?
If the second pathogen only effects the host due to the host's immune response to the pathogen, I could see reduced symptoms. Or are you referring to something such as bacteriophages?
