Non-insecticidal methods are worth to develop provided that they: 1) have control efficacies that meet the needs of growers, 2) are economically affordable alternatives, 3) are safe for mammals (including humans), and 4) environmentally sustainable. Unfortunately, these four criteria are seldom met.
