The things that are in question are veterans who spent 1, 2 , 3, 4, or 5 years away at war.
There are some who have a college education.
There are others who have no college education.
Then there are those who are homeless, and those who have a home.
All I have managed to do is to confuse myself. I think that I may have too many variables, but I do not know how to accuratcly go about asking and showing the results.
First, draw a table for yourself to get an overview of your data. Some
items can be presented only in the table and home respectively homelessness can be coded and used as an independent variable for the dependent variable post-traumatic stress, for example, probably you have some continuous variables and can do a regression analysis.
There is allot of expression and real life history on this issue. (ex. Agent orange, posttraumatic stress, benefits, and foundational national security which is basically the right to privacy. North Americans who are veterans are obstructed of their rights if they have a problem being in a comfortable environment (ex. housing, {section 8...}). New York and subway tunnel dwellers is interesting on your compositional question. Psychoanalytic on a researched, statistical (case studies) and proposal aspects can get you started.

I would recommend you get a book and tech yourself more about statistics. I would suggest Andy Field's book Discovering Statistics Using SPSS/R depending on the software you're about to use. They are both very easy to understand and will cover all the topics you need to know about.
From a personal perspective I would recommend R. It is not as easy to understand and intuitive as SPSS, but it forces you to really understand what you are doing which is probably the most important point about doing stats. Plus it is free and has a huge online community.
