There are multiple models for inducing AD. As AD is a complex neurological disorder and most of the models do not completely recapitulate the genetic and epigenetic complexity of sporadic AD. Now with newer development of models I guess transgenic mice as AD-models are better

Rats do not develop AD and there are no rat models of AD. There are rat models which have particular characteristics of AD that you might be interested in researching. What are you interested in? Tau, Abeta, metabolism, vascular dysfunction, memory loss, cell death....
