Surface functionalization of Sulfonated nanocellulose to induce hydrophobicity while maintaining nano sized feature ?

Hi all,

I'm currently seeking any feasible and convenient method of functionalizing the surface of Sulfonated nanocellulose to improve hydrophobicity of it's surface to inflict contact angle of more than 50 degrees for a specific application provided that it doesn't looses nano-sized feature.

You need to use S-benzylisothiouronium chloride. This reagent forms insoluble compounds with sulfate and sulfoether groups. The benzyl radical will impart hydrophobicity. If it is not available, use any cationic surfactant.
