The information iceberg can only be circumvented by elaborating the reading/thinking/writing competencies; education is about information selection procedures, i.e. browsing can only be a tool for this selection process of converting information (not living/archiving)) into knowledge (living/creating).
Otherwise, the short-term memory and the delete function will have their victory over living knowledge and the human spirit.

Books are based on syllabus not able to address recent trends where as internate is easy to access as well and up to date thought it has negative impact as concentration is less
Internet browsing seems cheaper than book purchasing for most students, and can also provide very current information on syllabus details. Additionally, large amount of related information can be retrieved through internet sources, compared to books.
Today, internet has become the favorite tools of students in their studies. The internet is considered huge depository of knowledge where a vast source of information, records and documents are stored. Thus, the digital information technology has dramatically altered the methods that students access information.
Dear Dr Stephen I. Ternyik, Kumar, Edwin Chigozie Nwokori & Anjay kumar Mishra , Thanks for your great answers.
On the other hand, the web materials are not valued and checked with referencing or well researched as anyone can upload and for downloading money spend is not required.
Browsing internet to find study material is an easy process than visiting the library. But internet provides limited information & sometimes the information found may not be completely accurate. It is because of the no liability pattern of the blogger. On the other hands, books carry only genuine & authentic information in details as author has to be 100% sure before writing a book. I prefer & suggest reading books.
Students need to understand one thing well: Information from the Internet does not mean understanding, information is only the source material for the next processing of the brain. Know and understand is a huge difference. You can know a lot but never able to do it. Books in addition to information mobilize for thinking, especially if you make notes on the margins, underline the text, and so on. You also need to understand that sitting for a long time in front of a computer screen is harmful to the eyes, not to mention that it’s not very good at thinking at the computer. Therefore, it is not surprising that the level of understanding among today's students has plummeted compared with students in the 1960s and 1970s. And this is sad because they will never create anything new; they are, at best, the future consumers.
