I am designing a small peptide to inhibit a homo-dimer of a small secretory protein (about 20 KDa). I need suggestions on, which option would be better? a straight-chain peptide or a ring-shaped peptide? Thank you in advance
if your Cyclic peptide have specific role in your research system means you use Ring peptide : But ring peptide particularly inhibition of homo-dimer small protein hardly work if hydrophobic / hydrophilic balanced peptide means.
If my above answer confusing means given details below
Ring peptide relatively greater stability - functional group activity lower due to its stereo-chemistry.
But if no way - your specific peptide have key role in your research means use ring peptide - use little higher concentration and allow extra time.
out of this straight chain peptide will work fine.
