I extracted a specific plant material using 80% (v/v) ethanol and water. I tried evaporating my solvent using a rotary evaporator at 40 deg C. The rotary evaporator also have no pressure adjuster. The majority of the portion of my solvent evaporated, and my extract became concentrated. However, it seemed like the solvent might not have totally evaporated because it was too liquid in consistency. Also, I placed it in a freezer and it froze. I thought of putting it in the lyophilizer but it melted immediately after about 3 minutes. What could have happened and would there be some suggestions regarding this issue?

Thank you so much in advance!
