I have been trying to simulate an FEM model of wire arc additive manufacturing of just a layer of material on the substrate and trying to find the associated thermal stresses using COMSOL Multiphysics 5.3a.

The heat transfer analysis part is fine and works perfectly. A conical heat source was fed using an analytical function as seen in the file attached. The heat source and temperature distribution is well shown.

But after the structural analysis is coupled with the heat transfer analysis to obtain the thermal stress, i get a singularity error all the time.

I have searched for the solution online. and they have been saying it could be due to boundary conditions or mesh. The singularity error persists however may be the size of the mesh.

I don't see where the error in boundary conditions could be. If you can find an error or a way to solve this problem, it'd be great.

Also please share your experiences if you have tried simulating such a problem earlier (could be any software).

Thanks in advance.

Also, the system i'm working on has a ram of 16GB, core i7 processor and is a dell optiplex 9020.
