Hello all. I am trying to simulate reinforcement corrosion using abaqus. I tried with restart analysis and change the bar area, but it doesn't effect the result. I understand that abaqus reads the material parameters from the original file.
I tried also with removing element technique but since the surronding pipe with very small thickness, the system was not stable. I have also done with changing the modulus of elasticity during analysis but my problem is the change I should make after reaching the yielding point. I do appreciate any suggestion about what I have already tried or any new approaches.

It is better to use VUSDFLD or VUMAT subroutine. If pitting corrosion is important you need to scripting. Random numbers should be assign to each element.
