hello all. I am trying to simulate reinforcement in a cooling tower using the 3D shell element in abaqus. I have problems with the orientation of the rebars. It seems there is a problem with the local inclination of the hyperbolic shape of the tower.
after running the analysis the results showed that the inclination of the rebars was not right. I tried to change in the input file but it doesn't affect the result.
any suggestions are appreciated.
What type of shell element do you use? How do you define the rebar in the shell elements? From which results did you conclude that the inclination of the rebars was not right?
Thanks George. The shell element is SC3D8, the rebars were directly defined in the shell section, the rebar orientation in the result module was not consistent in all the shell of the cooling tower and that was reflected in the stress distribution.
