The more I read about this topic the more I come to the conclussion that the term 'race' does not at all properly reflect what science nowadays tries to express. Yet it is still a most widely accepted and used term although it comes along with negative interpretation and a tendency for abuse. I am wondering how come it has never been replaced by a more proper and neutral word like for example 'taste' which would at least allow to reflect that how one perceives a person's appearance is at least highly dependend from sensation and interpretation. What do you think?
A rose will smell sweet whichever name you call it; a rose is a rose is a rose .
Similarly, race, and its connotations, will remain the same even if you change it to taste. taste is not a bad idea, it just will mean that the flavour of people will differ.
Race has another connected meaning: there is always a race (competition) between different races!
