Should researchers/lecturers/scholars be given publication grant/incentive by the university management for publishing papers in reputable journals?

Universities benefit from publications by academics in leading reputable journals, so they should be encouraged and supported financially in terms of payment of submission fees, publication fees, page charges, and article processing charges (APCs).
After publication, incentive grants should be awarded for undertaking further research.
Thats how it is in other part of the world...Most of the Asian universities do that to encourage researchers...
The more the number of institutions' publications in high impact journals, the better the rating of such institution and so aside from western world, some of our institutions that recognized this fact are sponsoring as many publications as possible as long as they are accepted in high impact journals.

Sure. Good research, published in a widely read journal, encourages not only the lecturer but students who are strengthened that they are at the right place and directed by the right person who happens to be an authority in the discipline. Yes, the researcher should be commended.
