I am trying to set up our lab for human DNA extraction from brain tissue and CSF. Any suggestions on how to go about setting up a clean room to prevent any external contamination from bacteria, fungi and viruses? Thank you!
- Caulk gun & aluminum duct tape to seal the cracks
- 8w undercabinet lights with the corresponding UV sterilizing-grade light bulbs (turn UV on only if neither you nor your desired DNA samples are in the room)
It would be good to know what you're starting with. Besides the above suggestions, which are okay but will not a clean room make, positive air pressure and a garbing room would help. Good training in aseptic technique for personnel is a must. And not "regular old" training - actual training (to industry, not academic standards).
