Science textbooks are one of the basic teaching aids for pupils and students. On the other hand, the importance of scientific textbooks is changing under the influence of the revolution in information technology ICT and the Internet, the process of digitizing the economy increasingly based on knowledge, on data processing.

Thank you for your comment. I fully agree with your first line (how couldn't I). Nevertheless, if we consider the importance (and potential), how can you explain such a low researchers' interest in the topic?
One way or another, the main factor seems to be the textbook's use in classrooms. We have only limited data on this which show it's just around 5 minutes.
How do you see the role of textbooks as we know them in another 10-15 years? Will they fade away with young teachers being more into online materials or will the school practice teach novice teachers its old-fashioned way?

Ich unterrichte an einer Berufsschule die Lehrlinge der pharmazeutisch-kaufmännischen Assistenten. In meinem Unterricht werden die Fachbücher sehr oft verwendet und ständig aktualisiert. Derzeit sind die Lehrbücher Stand 2019. Das finde ich auch sehr wichtig, da eine veraltete Literatur oft zu einem falschen Wissensstand führen kann. An unserer Schule gibt es auch zu wenige EDV-Räume, dass wir alles nur mehr online hätten. Außerdem fühlen sich viele SuS mit einem Buch in der Hand wohler, als nur mehr alles vom PC aus zu lernen. lg Doris Markt
There is no doubt that it would be a mistake to underestimate the challenge of any attempt to elevate the current status of textbook evaluation or criticism.The negativity surrounding textbooks not only in science but all subjects in terms of their use and status as vehicles for pedagogy are profound.There is a very deep-seated "anti-textbook ethos" witnessed in India also throughout the education system.Some teachers may scorn it as a poor and insufficient teaching vehicle .But at same time majority of the teachers, students and parents cosider that they are an important means of dissemination of curriculum to the students at all levels.
Text book, especially in science makes a significant impact on the personality, scientific attitude, interest in science and learning outcomes of students.It all depends upon the presentation of contents, language, illustrations, pictures, activities, exercises, experiments and the questions posed to the students in a particular science textbook.Therefore it is more important to think how we can improve our science text books. In order to achieve this objective i think textbook evaluation must be done at all levels. Science teachers, researchers at graduation and post graduation levels and government organizations associated with curriculum development must conduct critical and evaluative studies of science textbooks.
