there are many protocols for the making of a histology slides, depending on the tissue and what you want to observe. the only really needed apparatus I would say microtome for thin section and microscope.

Histological protocols often demand the use of highly volatile, flammable, and sometimes carcinogenic solutions (think toluene as a solvent for dewaxing). Unless your are doing this outside (which would have its own set of issues) or have a hood at home, I suggest you consider only safe approaches that would involve the use of vital stains and aqueous solutions. Well, you will need a Microtome machine to get your tissue on your slide. Which require certain prior protocols or procedures before the stage. This procedure can be hazardous which rule out that it is better done in an isolated or secure room.

The procedure includes fixation, tissue processing, embedding and microtomy.
