Publication depends on the policy of the journal and the time for the reviews - two or three reviewers, whether a major revision or a partial revision is required. Generally, publishing takes 3 to 6 months, but may take longer.

Normally it depends on the journal and the topic also. Sometimes the editor is searching for reviewers relevant to your topic which takes time.
In general, it takes 3-9 months.

You may not need to go to the journal's homepage directly, but the publisher will list them out

Publication period length varies from journal to journal. It may be bimonthly, quarterly, biannual or annual. After submission of the article the editorial board send the article for peer reviewing by sending it to the referees who evaluate the technical aspects of the article and finally giving a report. If the work is of outstanding scientific importance, then the editorial board takes decisions to publish it after completing editorial criteria.
Some journals mention it on homepage; some publishers do as suggested in above answers; you can always mail and ask the editorial board, lastly you can get an idea from the frequency of the journal, article submission number and timing of when an article gets published and its relation with the DOI which matches with the submission time.
