Prior to lockdown, I extracted RNA from FFPE material: 2 10 micrometer thick curls per sample using the RNeasy FFPE kit.
At the time I was able to start processing the samples within 30 minutes of them being cut.
Given the current situation, getting the samples from where they are cut to the Lab where I will process them, will be more difficult.
Can anyone tell me how long the FFPE curls can be stored before I carry out the extraction protocol? Are there any specific storage conditions?
FFPE samples are room-temperature stable, for virtually indefinitely. I have sliced samples with a microtome and extracted the next day, next week, and next month, with no noticeable change in the sample quality or quantity. The FFPE preserves your sample until processing, so you should also be able to store sliced curls for long periods of time as well.
