I have a problem with linking Abaqus 2020 to Fortran Compiler, I need this for launching UMAT subroutines. I have followed one of the many tutorials available online for linking the two, and everything appears ok as I get results from the command abaqus info=system
But then, if I ask to the Abaqus Command tool to verify everything is fine, I get this message:
Abaqus/Standard with user subroutines
...ERROR Abaqus did not complete successfully. Please see std_user.log for details. Continuing...
And, by checking the file std_user.log, I find the following message:
LINK : fatal error LNK1181: cannot open file 'user32.lib' Abaqus Error: Problem during linking - Abaqus/Standard User Subroutines. This error may be due to a mismatch in the Abaqus user subroutine arguments. These arguments sometimes change from release to release, so user subroutines used with a previous release of Abaqus may need to be adjusted. Abaqus/Analysis exited with errors
What am I missing? Thanks for any contribution

Please do follow the process in the link. I will suggest you to uninstall everything and start by installing visual studio first followed by one API.
I believe that Fotran did not properly link to Abaqus. You may try to follow the following reference, it should work perfectly.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. I have managed to get the Abaqus Command tool report everything is fine, so my Fortran Compiler should be linked to Abaqus as it says:

Still, by launching a subroutine I had already tried on a different device, I get the job aborted.
Anyone has experienced something similar? Any ideas on how to fix this?
Riccardo Zabatta I have managed to link Abaqus 2018 with Intel One Api, so I guess the procedure should be the same. With respect to the solution that was linked by Sabarinathan Pushparaj Subramaniyan :
- follow steps 2-3, although notice that step 3 is not needed if you launch the analyses from Intel OneApi Command Prompt;
- at step 4, edit the custom_v6.env file by adding the following line:
compile_fortran +=['/fp:precise', '/names:lowercase']
This worked for me and other colleagues in my group. If you still experience troubles, uninstall and reinstall everything, following the order: Abaqus, VS2019, Intel One Api
Michele Terzano thanks for your feedback, I was wondering if the problem could be the Intel OneAPI Compiler, as some users on the web considered (comments I found were from first half of 2021, Intel OneAPI had just been launched). But your experience seems to confirm the product is ok with Abaqus.
My situation is a bit weird because apparentely the system recognises the presence of the Fortran Compiler: if in abaqus command I type abaqus system=info I get details of the Intel Fortran Compiler and Visual Studio I installed. Also, the command
abaqus verify -user_std
prints out
"Abaqus/Standard with user subroutines - PASS"
Still to run a subroutine is not possible to me.
I haven't ever accessed to Intel OneAPI command prompt. Now I have tried to launch it and it prints:

I guess you might have some issues related to the installation of the compiler. If I were you, I would try to disinstall and repeat the procedure.

Hello all, I am also facing similar issue and would like to take some suggestions.
I have successfully linked ABAQUS 2020 with Intel OneAPI - Visual Studio 2019. When I run the simple UMAT, VUMAT, DLOAD subroutines, it works perfectly fine. When I run complex VUMAT, it works perfectly fine.
But when I run complex UMAT, the simulation aborts without a warning message. But at the same time, the same UMAT runs perfectly fine on ABAQUS 2019 which is linked with intel parallel studio.
Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this and make it run in ABAQUS 2020 please? Thanks a lot
Hello all, I have also faced the same problem as Dhanraj Rajaraman and Riccardo Zabatta (ABAQUS linked with Intel OneAPI got aborted without any message when I run a complex UMAT). I uninstall and reinstall everything, but the problem still persists. I wonder if someone has found a solution for this issue since three months ago.

Ebrahim Sadeghpour as mentioned in my previous answer, the key step that enabled me to use Intel One Api is the modification of the .env file. As stated above:
- edit the custom_v6.env file by adding the following line:
compile_fortran +=['/fp:precise', '/names:lowercase']

After some time since I have posted my question, I can give some updates to the past and future readers. As I replied on September, 21 to Assogba Ogoubi Cyriaque and Sabarinathan Pushparaj Subramaniyan , who had replied at the very first to my thread, the check I was getting from the ABAQUS Command tool was confirming I had set and correctly linked the Fortran Compiler to ABAQUS.
Later I found out I was completely ignoring the initisalisation of State Variables of the UMATs I was trying to use. This is carried out by correctly writing a SDVINI fortran script, which has to be added in the UMAT Fortran script earlier than the UMAT function.
As probably many, I am trying to use pre-written UMAT scripts (in my case, for constitutive modelling of soil, availables at soilmodels.com). I still am working on understanding how to correctly initialise state variables.
If I well understand, the later repliers Dhanraj Rajaraman and Ebrahim Sadeghpour may have a similar, or the same, problem.
