In order to proceed to a subcellular fractionation of cultured human cells, I want to homogenize them using a Sonicator. Which amplitude should I use to get 6W power in a Soniprep150Plus MSE (exponential probe)? Many thanks.
Luca: This is a high school basics: Watts = Amps x volts. Suppose your volts is 110 v, and your Amps is about 6/110 or 0.054 A (54 mA). Double check yourself. Good luck.
the amplitude is not only dependent on the Watt, but also on the probe. I don't know your specific instrument, but normally you find in the instructions the max. amplitude of your probe at the maximum power (Watt). If you use less power, you can easily calculate the amplitude using these values.
