When the nanoparticle is placed close to the interface between two dielectrics, light will scatter preferentially into the dielectric with the larger permittivity (or larger density of states). I'd like to know the reason.
@Zhumei Sun, you have provided less information about your question, what kind of nano-particle? what is the shape? what is the size? incident wavelength?? they all are affecting scattering, so please provide full details???
It was mentioned in this review article "Plasmonics for improved photovoltaic devices", in which the author pointed out that light scattering using particle plasmons could trap photons in the cell. Detailed info could be found in Ref.29.
