I am trying to figure out whether I can create virons with the plasmids from this paper using a Plat (Platinum) cell line is derived from 293T cells.

The paper used Phoenix-ampho, and the backbone of the plasmid is murine stem cell virus (MSCV)-based retroviral expression vector. Would this be compatible with PlatE?
Is someone could also explain the differences between these systems, that would be much appreciated.
Plate is first generation and supports ecotropic virus (moue)and has been around for 20 years.
Phoenix ampho is second generation, it will support both eco and amphotropic virus. It has several Cadillac features including transfection susceptibility using both calcium phosphate And lipid delivery vehicle.
Sorry, forgot to add, yes mscv is plate compatible, it is mouse ecotropic

Thank you for your response. To confirm, I should be able to create virons by using an MSCV in the PlatE packing system.
For the purpose of mouse transfections into hematapoetic stem cells, do you know of any "differences" between using PlatE vs Phoenix? Do you think the author in the paper used Phoenix for a particular reason?
