Dear researchers,
I am coupling Design Optimization with ANSYS Fluent in Workbench 2020 R2. I can do the analysis. I am patching the initial Temperature values of the zones. However, the patch only works in the first project run. In the next runs, the patch is not run as it should, so the initial temperatures are not correctly assigned to my models' zones. How can I permanently initialize the flow field or automate the initialization process to run in the beginning of each run?

Hi,
patching is not persistent initialization method in Fluent and is not stored in CAS files.
But you can do your intended temperature initialization by using in newer versions of ANSYS Fluent (like in the past 20 years already in ANSYS CFX) so-called expressions. The derived expression for the fluid temperature can then be assigned in standard initialization. This should provide you with a persistent method of fluid temperature initialization.
Alternatively you could try to script your patching initialization in a journal file, which you than need to call for the Fluent simulation run to get executed.

You could define variables in the project and use them for all the simulations.
