I assume that "on the base line" means that the compound remains at the origin. Depending on the substituents on the compound, you may need to run a more polar solvent system, such as dichloromethane/methanol.
Hi, I agree with Jack, please try with more polar mobile phase (If you use silica gel as stationary phase). I found 15 hits for chalcone in CAMAG TLC data base, unfortunately I have no hit, if I insert P-pyridyl chalcone.
