I found a short rooted mutant in arabidopsis thaliana. The crossed (F1) generation showed over-dominance for root character. In F2 population, the plants have long range for root length. How can I determine that how many genes are controlling this trait? How can I screen a homozygous mutant phenotype?
I also performed cross tests, but it's difficult for me to say something clearly about its inheritance.
I have no practical knowledge about genetics. Kindly guide and help me out.
It seems that the varioation was very large for the root measurement. The varioation could arise from growth conditions. If you would be able to reduce the variation by improving the growth condition, I would expect a neat measurement, which would be helpful for the measurement and the caculation for the segregation.
I just changed the days for stratification. First time vernalization period was 2 days and second time it prolonged for 4 days.
Now I will grow again parents and F1 and F2 generations, altogether. Then I will ask you for guidance and help.
