Hello everyone, in our lab we have been performing CTAB/phenol-chloroform DNA extractions. They're time-consuming (especially for our level of throughput) but they give us lots of clean DNA, for much cheaper than kits. Unfortunately, we've recently lost ready fumehood access, which makes working with phenol-chloroform an extreme hazard. We're looking into potential solutions, and one that I'm considering is switching protocols to something a little less toxic, but as similar as possible in characteristics to the phenol-chloroform approach. Can anyone recommend a favourite, possibly with a little sample data/publication to back them up? I really appreciate any advice!
