Think what secular holidays we celebrate--- Valentine´s, Mother´s, Father´s, Grandmother´s Day, Independence Day, even President´s Day in the U.S. (as if we were their servants and not the reverse)--, all commercially exploited--! Then consider "Open Education Week": the sheer beauty of the idea is a thrill.

I have been allways open for it! I am sure every teacher is open for it!
Open Education provides chance to both students and teachers to increase their domain of knowledge so it should be encouraged.

All days should be for education. But in this WEEK we can take it as a chance to reevaluate where we are in EDUCATION in national and international level.
Education has to be open there is no reason for it to be closed. In the ancient days information could not be open due to only barriers such as language, no physical access to it etc. but now with the e-media making things at everyone's finger tips... we have no reason to keep it closed.
Why only a week!!! I say round the clock 24X7. Like RG we can share/react as and when we have time.
My concept of open education is defined as-
Education you want, where you want, how you want and when you want.
Todays world village has every ingredient for it to happen.

Internet made open education possible not for one week, but for 365x24 - just if you have time, if you only want amd if one have minimum capabilities. I do not use online translating tools, but perhaps they might help. And I support the view, that RG is also a good tool for open research and education.
In my opinion education exceeds borders and offers opportunities to larger sector of interested people. it should be encouraged.
