Article Isolated unilateral temporalis muscle hypertrophy in a child...

Dear Sir,

I read your interesting paper on: Isolated unilateral temporalis muscle hypertrophy in a child. A case report with literature review.

An interesting case with bilateral temporalis and masseter muscle hypertrophy was reported by: H.Ch.Hopf (1). In my opinion the cause of this disorders may be an inherited neuropathy, a variant of HMSN, or an autoimmune process(2). Muscle hypertrophy ma be generated by a hyperexcitable trigger zone in the motor axons, which induced a syndrome of continuous motor unit activity (EMG) in the temporalis muscle, which finaly may be the cause of muscle hypetrophy.
