Dear all,

I am working in Rainfall Induced Landslide. I am modelling the rainfall infiltration in FLAC 2D with two-phase  flow scheme.

To validate my FLAC code I am comparing the model results with field measured values. Modelling involves alternated wetting-drying process, where in first rainfall event occurs with the rainfall intensity of 475mm for initial 8days followed by drying process (wetting) with no rain for 15 days. After completion of drying process rainfall occurs again for 2days (150mm) again followed by drying process (wetting, no rainfall).

The simulated results for pore pressure for the first 8 days of rainfall (drying) were matching well with the field observe values. But for the no rainfall event (15days) filed measurement showed there is reduction in pore pressure (suction, negative values). The values observed for my simulation shown no variation in pore pressure (pp remains constant throughout  the process).

Is the wetting  (drying process) was not modeled properly? I kindly request you to please suggest me on modeling part. For water suction relationship van Genuchten model was used.

Please find the attached comparison plot of field and simulated values.

Please suggest me on how to model the drying process (no rain event).

Thanking you.
