We have a liquid nitrogen generator made by MMS Technologies. It is the Elan 2 model. It dispenses into a 20 L dewar and runs continuously to fill the dewar. Our generator is about 10 years old. MMS has since gone out of business so I can't get technical support anymore.
The generator is suppposed to fill the dewar then stop generating and go into stanbdy. But, our generator thinks the dewar is full, often when it is only 1/4 or 1/2 full, and stops generating liquid N2 prematurely.
Does anyone have one of these generators and have you experienced this problem?
I believe it detects the liquid N2 level by a thermocouple in the dispensing drop tube, but I am not certain. The manual is extremely brief and there is not much technical information available on this model that I can find.
It is starting to affect our laboratory workflow. I want to keep this generator running, as they are not cheap. Any help - ideas, solutions, manuals, etc... would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
