Williamson reaction between phenacyl bromide and salycylic aldehyde with anhydrous potassium carbonate in refluxing EtOH or perhaps acetone. This should alkylate the free phenol, make the aldol and if conditions are harsh enough, dehydrate the product towards your target. For this recipy, nothing like potassium carbonate! You may try sodium or cesium carbonate, but they will not be the same.
