In South Kalimantan, we have many rice cultivar that is potential to use as genetic resoures for breeding progam.
Some of this cultivar was cultivated in tidal swampland in South Kalimantan. Based on this fact, i have a hypotesis that this germplasm can adapted to salt stress due the wide range salinity as effect of tides.

But the paper that you attached has not classify the rice cultivar into tolerant, moderate, sensitive, etc.

This method is good and reliable if you are not considering total growth period of the plants. for your research, it will be necessary to use this approach: agro-morphological and physiological basis which underlie tolerance to salinity. this study will allow you to know which are the determining parameters to take into account when screening varieties. this activity will be followed by evaluation using the standard evaluation system (SES). I think the best method for salt tolerance screening of Rice genotypes would be field screening at coastal saline belt where soil and water salinity must be 8 to 12 ds/m. Then the rice seedlings will be transplanted in that field and expose to nature to investigate the tolerance/resistance level. If any genotypes survive under those situation/condition, then those genotype(s) will be selected.
